On 27 October 1948, was enthroned in Peru a dictatorship. Federico Camerano Cannero, a prominent leader of the oligarchy of cotton and sugar, is one of the organizers of the coup. Later, playing a high position in the Central Bank and with the complicity of other leaders of the regime seizes ten million dollars of this entity. The resistance against the dictatorship and to defend the heritage of the people are assumed, as a natural duty, by a group of university students, workers, soldiers and residents of neighborhoods, a detachment of the people, against which trigger the anger and hatred of the oligarchy and dictatorship.
The plot of the novel results from the antagonistic behavior of both sets of characters, and is configured as a fictional extension of the living roots of historical truth. The conflict, present in every episode, as sets of intrigue, malice, treachery, honesty, courage, love and tenderness, is, therefore, full of suspense. And the reader who comes to participate in these stories as a witness immediately, is compelled, finally, to ask if they could have actually happened.
two young protagonists of the novel were students of the Faculty of Law at the University of San Marcos, and knew that beyond the study and even love, their duty was to risk your peace, freedom and life, fighting the dictatorship, the University and beyond, by democracy and people's rights.
